Database Engineer
As a Database Engineer at Resource Data, you will support and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL database systems along with cloud infrastructure environments that power mission-critical applications. You will work closely with developers, IT-security teams, and government stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing database and infrastructure solutions.
This role focuses on improving system performance, supporting modernization efforts, ensuring data integrity, and translating application requirements into effective database and infrastructure designs within a complex enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support Oracle and PostgreSQL database systems in enterprise environments
- Maintain and optimize cloud and hybrid infrastructure supporting critical applications
- Translate application and software requirements into database and infrastructure solutions
- Perform database tuning, performance optimization, and schema modifications
- Support system integrations, upgrades, and infrastructure changes in coordination with stakeholders
- Perform backup, recovery, and data integrity monitoring activities
- Conduct security reviews and support IT-security validation and compliance efforts
- Document system configurations, processes, changes, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure reliable and secure system operations
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency, and system architecture
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL database administration or engineering
- Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Understanding of database architecture, data modeling, and system design principles
- Experience supporting system backups, recovery, and data integrity processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex technical environments
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Experience supporting hybrid environments combining legacy systems with modern cloud infrastructure (specifically GCP)
- Experience working in consulting environments involving direct client interaction and project delivery responsibilities
- Experience delivering IT solutions with government agencies
