GIS Technician
As a GIS Technician at Resource Data, you will support the development and maintenance of geospatial data and mapping products that help clients make informed business and operational decisions. Working alongside GIS professionals, analysts, and project teams, you will build foundational GIS expertise through data editing, mapping, quality assurance, and research activities. This role provides opportunities to develop technical GIS skills while contributing to the delivery of accurate, reliable, and high-quality geospatial solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Use geoprocessing tools to support data management, analysis, and mapping activities
- Integrate high-accuracy GNSS/GPS data collected from field systems into enterprise GIS environments
- Enter and validate GIS data to ensure alignment between field-collected information and GIS records
- Perform GIS editing and QA/QC activities within Utility Network environments
- Create and maintain GIS databases, mapping files, and other geospatial products
- Follow best practices to produce accurate maps, reports, and GIS deliverables
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 0–2 years of professional experience, internship experience, or coursework related to GIS
- Familiarity with GIS software and tools used for data editing, mapping, and quality control
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Any level of GIS certification
- Experience working directly with clients in a consulting role
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro and the Utility Network data model
- Experience working with high-accuracy GNSS/GPS data
